Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of winger Tom Watson from Sunderland, with the 18-year-old set to officially join the club when the summer transfer window reopens.

Watson will sign a four-year deal with Brighton, worth a reported £10m, and will become a Brighton player on June 1, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2029. The

youngster made his Championship debut in April 2023 and has since made 17 appearances for Sunderland, scoring twice.

Watson has also been capped at England under-17 and under-18 level, having made his debut for the under-18s in October last year.

Speaking on the signing, Brighton’s technical director David Weir said: “Tommy is an exciting young player and we have been following him for a long time. “

“Tommy is an exciting young talent who we have been tracking for a significant period of time,” said Brighton technical director David Weir.

“He’s had an excellent breakthrough season with Sunderland, and we are looking forward to him joining us in the summer.
